Sport is an integral part of education. Shipley Foundation with our partners Special Olympics Bharat are committed to advocating and promoting inclusive sport development through the education route i.e. schools and higher education. Our aim is to provide curriculum based teaching aids, capacity building of teachers and institutions, revision of existing curriculums at par with global standards. This will ensure sustainable and systemic development.

The PEC has been designed as per the existing health and physical education curriculum guidelines of NCERT for classes 1-5. Organizations such as the British Council, UK Sport, Youths Sport Trust and UNICEF have played a key role in the programme development.
PEC has been endorsed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development & Ministry of Youth and Sport Affairs, India. UNICEF is implementing PEC as part of its sport for development mandate.

An innovative teaching/learning approach meeting the Government of India’s mandate on school education Child friendly schools have the potential to improve student attendance and retention which in turn has a direct co-relation with the learning levels, completion of elementary cycle, transition to secondary schools, particularly of girls. This will help in advocating for mainstreaming physical education with dedicated time in the regular school routine.
